Dr Matthew Wheater
Dr Wheater has been a Consultant Medical Oncologist at University Hospital Southampton since 2011. He specialises in the treatment of melanoma, germ cell tumours and urological cancers.
He undertook specialist training in medical oncology between 2004 and 2011, initially in Bristol and then in Wessex. He undertook a Cancer Research UK Clinical Research Fellowship and was awarded his PhD in 2011 under the supervision of Prof Peter Johnson.
Dr Wheater is the National Cancer Research Institute specialty lead for skin cancer for Wessex and is a member of the NCRI clinical studies group for testicular cancer. He is an investigator on several clinical trials investigating novel treatment strategies for melanoma and has published a number of peer reviewed papers.
